METROPOLITAN SWIMMING JUNIOR OLYMPIC

SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP

2008

GOOD BYE & THANK YOU FOR BEING WITH

US!

Congratulations to all athletes and teams. We hope you enjoyed the stay at Long Island and the Nassau County Aquatic Center. On behalf of Old Westbury Aquatic we wish you all the best in future endeavors.

A big thank-you to all volunteers; without your help it would be impossible to organize this meet. With a hope you will continue to support the sport of swimming, we look forward seeing you on the pool deck in the near future.

Coaches, the Hytek meet results file will be posted soon, after the results review by Metropolitan Swimming.

All teams who did not yet settle the account: please do so immediately – thank you.

OWA - Old Westbury Aquatics - Competitive Swimming on Long Island

Old Westbury Aquatics (OWA) is a year-round competitive swimming program dedicated to help athletes reach their highest potential. We provide an atmosphere of challenging hard work and commitment that leads to excellence. Our goal is to develop each individual to the utmost of his or her potential, and to provide each athlete the attention and opportunity to systematically progress from novice to elite levels of competition.

Long Island
Long Island surrounded by water

Long Island is a long island of southeast New York. It has an area of 3,567 square miles (10,377 km²) and a population of 7,448,618 as of the 2000 census, with the population estimated at 7,559,372 as of July 1, 2006, making it the largest island in the 48 contiguous U.S. states and the most populated in any U.S. state or territory. It is the 17th most populous island in the world, ahead of Ireland, Jamaica and the Japanese island of Hokkaid?. Its population density is 5,470 people per square mile (2,110 per km²). True to its name, the island is much longer than it is wide, jutting out some 122 miles (196 km) from New York Harbor, with only from 12 to 20 miles (32 km) between the southern Atlantic coast and Long Island Sound.

Long Island is surrounded by water: Atlantic Ocean on the south and Long Island Sound on the north. For endless miles, the rocky and supervised beaches on the Long Island Sound offer kayakers, canoes, sail boats and wind-surfers their special domains. Not to be outdone, the limitless beaches on the South Shore touch the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, and many offer surfboarders the excitement they crave. Sea, water and swimming are big part of every Long Islander’s life.
